When it was acquired, Mashery-powered APIs were used by over 350,000 active developers in over 100,000 active applications, and counted among its customers many of the largest e-commerce, media, and data companies in the world.

Oren has made angel investments in several successful companies including Uber, Pebble Post, Addy, Navdy, and Mindful Meats. He also invests as an LP in several early- and mid-stage VC funds. He served as an outside (non-executive) director of Aepona, an Irish software company, from 2011 through its acquisition by Intel in 2013. He was also an early advisor to the founder of Gnip, which was acquired by Twitter.

Oren advises enterprise SaaS, PaaS, and cloud companies, and has assisted several such companies in developing and implementing strategies for growth and in closing M&A transactions. He also served on the US Government Health Information Technology Policy Enrollment Workgroup at the invitation of the White House CTO.

Oren has been a speaker at numerous conferences around the world, including SXSW, Le Web, f.ounders, the Dublin Web Summit, Web 2.0, and Podim Slovenia. He has keynoted at events for companies such as American Express and Capital One, and has guest lectured at Cal and UCLA.

Prior to founding Mashery, Oren was VP at Feedster, a search engine and ad network for RSS feeds, where he led the company’s business development efforts in the US and China, closing partnerships with AOL, Real Networks and Mitsui. He was president of ColtHR (a SaaS employee benefits management platform) and of winebid.com (the Internet’s largest wine auction house). He also spent a year as ED and CEO of The Groundlings, a Los Angeles based comedy improv theatre company.
