Selim Shlomi Benbasat is an entrepreneur who actively invests and develops companies in various stages of maturity in various industries, focusing initially on new media, internet, chemicals, telecommunications, energy, and financial markets.
Benbasat started his carrier as a professional investment banker, leading technology-based start-ups from seed stage to exits by providing them IPO, M&A, and private placement advisory services in Israel and in London.
Later, he joined the Gulman Group, one of the leading family offices in Turkey, and was in charge of strategic business development and portfolio management in various fields, from financial markets, to transportation, energy and trading.
In 2004, Benbasat acquired Gulman’s chemical division, Gultas Chemicals, and grew it twenty-fold in five years. He later established a private label chemical production company called Maxi Chemicals.
In 2005, he founded BenTek Group, a company focused on the telecoms, internet, media, and entertainment (TIME) industries. Since than, he has conducted investments, business development, consulting, and value-added re-sell services to leading global vendors.
From 2005 to 2007, Benbasat was a co-founder, investor, and acting CEO of Qualitest Turkey, one of the world’s leading QA and testing IT companies.
In January 2011, Benbasat co-founded BenTek Group’s PEVC Investment arm, providing funding and incubation services for TIME startups.
