Simon Jones is an Emmy nominated senior TV executive who for the last three years has managed television businesses in Los Angeles. Until January 2014 Jones was CEO of Talpa Media USA and responsible for John de Mol’s television assets including The Voice (the No 1 US reality TV show), La Voz Kids and The Winner Is.
Prior to joining Talpa, Jones as COO ran Syco USA’s media operation for Simon Cowell and Sony Music. In the 5 years before Jones relocated to Los Angeles he was responsible for all of Syco’s commercial television interests and in particular the global rollout of The X Factor and Got Talent.
Jones joined Syco from Fremantle where he found and established Pop Idol and then brought this to the States as American Idol, being credited as Executive Producer for the first two seasons. Jones was also responsible at Fremantle for acquiring the global rights outside of America to The Apprentice.
In the seven years prior to Fremantle, Jones was Controller of Business Affairs at LWT.
Jones started his career as a lawyer in the city at Hogan Lovells before moving into television.
