description
Steve Eskenazi for more than 20 years, has had a long and successful career in technology (IBM), investment banking (Alex. Brown & Sons 1990, 1997 as Managing Director and founder of Alex. Brown's New Media Group), and venture capital (Walden Venture Capital, 1997-2008, as Managing General Partner). Now Super Angel, Steve manages his previous investments and makes new investments with The Angels' Forum.

During his career, Steve has built a strong network of operating executives, consultants, and co-investors who bring significant value to the companies in which he invests. Steve's personal investments include Hands-On Video Relay Services (sold to Purple Communications for $70 million for an 8X return), Filtrbox (sold to Jive Software, which subsequently went public, generating a 6X return), PM Pediatrics (a "do well by doing good" startup in the pediatric urgent care market), Ensighten (a leading supplier of enterprise SaaS tag-management solutions), and SCOPIX Solutions (a video analytics enterprise SaaS vendor to the retail sector).

As Walden Venture Capital's Managing General Partner, Steve was responsible for building Walden's digital media and technology practice. During that period, he led successful investments and exits in many companies, such as AdKnowledge (acquired by CMGI for $250 million), BlueLithium (acquired by Yahoo! for $300 million), Cybertrust, (acquired by Verizon for $450 million) and DigitalThink (DTHK, which attained a market capitalization in excess of $2 billion before selling to Convergys). Walden was also a significant investor in Pandora, a revolutionary music service which is a mulit-billion dollar valuation public company, and Glam Media, a top web property that focuses on women.

He currently serves on the advisory board of Merriman Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:MERR) a financial services firm focused on fast-growing companies and their institutional investors. A popular instructor at Stanford University, Steve teaches his class entitled The Financial Underpinnings of a Startup. Steve graduated cum laude with a BS in Applied Math from Union College in 1983 and received his MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in 1985.
