- Shen Tong is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, writer/poet, social activist, foodie, and film buff. One of Newsweek’s People of the Year in 1989, Shen was an organizer of the democracy movement in 1989 that occupied Tiananmen Square while at Beijing University. After his exile to the US, he finished his undergraduate at Brandeis University, and went on to PhD programs at Boston University and Harvard University. Shen founded the Democracy for China Fund, to support democratic movements and human rights in China, and published his first book, the best selling Almost a Revolution, in 1990. Shen became an entrepreneur in the late 1990s, among other start-ups, founding VFinity in 2004. In 2011, he was widely profiled for his participation in the Occupy Wall Street Movement.
