I am a marketing and product-driven leader who simplifies things to drive scalable customer and revenue growth directly and through partnerships, search, mobile, social, word-of-mouth and other channels. I have grown revenue in the small business, e-commerce, and search/discovery sectors at both startups and for Fortune 1000 companies. I have also had some unsuccessful startups where I learned painful but invaluable lessons.

I co-founded CitySearch SF; grew annual bookings to $250 million at WorldRes (WRI); re-launched Yahoo Travel and grew the overall category to $300M in annual revenue (resulting in >$3B in GMV/bookings). Most recently I co-founded Uptake and built it into the third largest U.S. travel research site (Groupon). I have served on multiple private and non-profit boards and have been on both sides of the table for multiple US and global M&A transactions.

My career began at McKinsey a long time ago.

Professionally, I am passionate about three things. First, I am a technology geek who likes to try to simplify emerging technologies to disrupt existing industries with better customer experiences. I love intuitive, simple experiences that mask complex tech, tech ops and/or physical ops (e.g. Google Search, Uber). Second, the rare occurrence where the customer experience is aligned with the business model and there is a win-win-win for the brand/merchant, the company, and the customer (e.g. AirBnB, Ebates). Finally - mentoring. I helped start C100, a group of Silicon Valley Canadians that help tech startups in Canada. I I also mentor at Stanford’s StartX, C100 and 500 Startups. I served as President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters for SF and Silicon Valley to deliver youth mentoring.

While not working, I am usually hanging out with my daughters or coaching one of their teams, rooting for one of my perennially underachieving sports teams, biking, swimming or falling over while doing Warrior 3. I live in Palo Alto but still consider Vancouver home.
